On December 1, 2022, S2i2 Founder and CEO, Ed Shin along with staff member David Nawrocki, attended the Culpepper County’s Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Burton Hammond Post 2524 monthly meeting. Many of the members shared stories from their time in the service including tours in Vietnam and the Korean War. Ed thanked the veterans for their service and shared his experience of emigrating to the United States from the Republic of Korea as a young child. He honored their sacrifice and remarked that, without them, it would not have been possible for him to pursue his own American dream. On behalf of S2i2, Ed made a financial gift to the post and turned the floor over to David.
Following Ed, David spoke of the need for a new breed of warrior to man the digital frontline against cyber threats. He also spoke eloquently of Ed Shin’s generosity in helping veterans transition out of military service and into a new chapter of national service. In their new roles, these veterans played critical cybersecurity roles at the Department of Defense protecting the country from enemies foreign and domestic. After the conclusion of the meeting, David transferred his VFW ‘At-Large-Membership’ to Post 2524. This event represents just one example of S2i2’s commitment to community engagement and the veteran communities that have preserved our life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
