This month we’re proud to spotlight Charles Brookhart. Charles, or “Charlie” plays an important role in helping protect and support the systems our customers rely on every day.
On the DLA contract, Charles works closely with his team to maintain the security of workstations and servers while also assisting users with their day-to-day needs. He manages customer requests through a shared inbox and ServiceNow, troubleshoots issues, and applies policy exceptions when needed, like enabling USB devices for approved use. His work requires both technical skill and careful judgment to balance security with usability.
Charles built a strong foundation for this role through both education and experience. He earned a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity and holds several certifications, including CompTIA A+, Security+, CySA+, and Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals. He continues to grow his knowledge by completing graduate-level certificate programs in Cyber Operations and Cyber Technology, showing his commitment to staying current in a fast-changing field.
Before joining S2i2, Charles gained valuable experience as a network engineer and system administrator, supporting complex DoD environments. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he developed strong leadership skills and a mission-first mindset that still guide his work today.
What Charles enjoys most about his role is solving problems and helping customers. He values the relationships he builds through his work and takes pride in seeing issues through to resolution.
Outside of work, Charles stays active and engaged. He is a dedicated Columbus Blue Jackets fan and longtime season ticket holder, and he enjoys spending time on long-distance bike rides.
Charles brings reliability, focus, and a strong work ethic to the team. His commitment to learning and helping others makes him a valued member of S2i2.
